Virginia passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones, due to complications from Alzheimer’s at the age of 85. She was married 65 years to her best friend, Herbert Pingree, and they raised four children together. She attended South High School in Denver, CO, and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Virginia lived in Steamboat Springs and Denver, Colorado; Nashville, Tennessee; Brussels, Belgium; and Rockford, Illinois.
Virginia enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. She was very talented and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and painting. She enjoyed spending time with friends while working on various projects and assignments.
Her greatest joy was service. She and her husband belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spent their life serving others. Those who worked with and were affected by Virginia described her fondly and appreciated her kind and gentle nature.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Herbert E. Pingree; four children, Dan Pingree, Robin Arick, Shelley Landgren, and Stephen Pingree; her daughter-in-law, Miranda Pingree; fifteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
