Tommi Lard Obituary

It is with the heaviest heart that we say farewell to Tommilleen Lard. Lovingly known as Tommi by friends and family and always Nana to the youngest and young at heart. Our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, nana, and friend passed peacefully on May 27, 2023, at 8:10 pm at age 86.

Tommi was the firstborn child to Cleland “Cleat” Miller and Nelle (Walters) Miller on January 25, 1937, in Turkey, Texas. Tommi survived her brother David Noel Miller and is survived by her devoted husband, James Lard, sister Cleatrice Bobbitt, seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Everyone knew Tommi as kind and full of life. She found joy in the simple pleasures of holding babies, watching the birds, and smelling the flowers. With a bright and young heart, Tommi loved playing card games, traveling, and going on whatever adventures her family could convince her to take, which didn’t take much convincing! Quilting was a favorite pastime, and she loved a good mystery book, dinner, and a movie (with a bit of chocolate)!

Hemmingway said that we have two deaths: the expiration of breath is the first and the last time they speak your name is the second. Tommi may no longer be with us in body, but her spirit lives within our shared memories. We shall continue to speak her name and share her stories, knowing she watches over us from the heavens above.
