Sheila Gallagher Obituary

Sheila Jean Gallagher passed away in her home in Federal Heights, CO on April 18, 2022.  Born Sheila Jean DiGiallonardo on April 21, 1960 in Greeley, CO to parents Robert Gene and Lillian Jean DiGiallonardo, Sheila was the first of three daughters for Robert and Jean.

Sheila attended grade school in Platteville, WI after the DiGiallonardos moved there in 1966.  Sheila continued school back in Colorado after the family relocated to Broomfield in 1971.

Sheila graduated from Broomfield High School in 1978. During her high school years, Sheila was involved in horticulture and needle arts.  She created many lovely fabric and needle art textile works – many of which remain with and are enjoyed by family today.  She loved to go dancing on the weekends and to attend high school sporting events with her friends.

Sheila married Wesley Clyde Gallagher on June 16, 1979. The couple relocated to California in 1988 where both worked in Mexico and enjoyed many trips to the California Baja for jeep racing and to Tijuana, becoming well-versed in local art, jewelry and food.

Sheila and Wes traveled often to Europe for a total of 5 or 6 trips.  Sheila would enjoy sitting in the cafes, drinking her favorite cappuccinos and people watching. The couple spent their 25 year wedding anniversary in Paris and their 26 year anniversary in Amsterdam!

Wanting to be in Colorado after a MS diagnosis for Sheila in 1997, the couple returned in 2008.  Sheila and Wes settled in Federal Heights with their 2 cats.

Sheila was of a gentle, warm and easy-going nature. She looked forward to spending time working in the music library at Broomfield United Methodist church with her mother Jean DiGiallonardo. She loved hummingbirds, cappuccinos, cats, raspberries and the Denver Broncos.  She even got a Denver Broncos tattoo after the Broncos won their first super bowl. Kind and generous to all, with a radiant and heart-warming smile, beloved daughter, wife and sister – Sheila is missed terribly and will live in our hearts forever.

Sheila is survived by her husband Wes of Federal Heights, CO, sister Leah DiGiallonardo of Seattle, WA and sister Cecile DiGiallonardo of Broomfield, CO.

Sheila’s parents, Robert Gene and Lillian Jean, predeceased Sheila in 2019 and 2017 respectively.

Donations in Sheila’s honor may be made to the National MS Society.
