Sandra K. Pointer

Born Sandra Kay Van Tassel on April 4th, 1941 in Greensboro N.C. to Edgar and Neva Van Tassel and brother Gerry.   The family soon moved to Scottsbluff, NE where Sandra spent her formative years.  Graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1959, Sandra then went on to get a Bachelor’s in Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado.  

Sandra then married Jim Pointer and had two sons, Jeff and Jon.  Soon after the birth of their first child the family moved to Denver, CO and spent the remainder of Sandra’s life in the Front Range area.  Although Jim and Sandra eventually divorced, they remained friends until Sandra’s passing.

For several years after college graduation Sandra enjoyed teaching school and often acted as a substitute teacher after she stopped teaching full time to raise a family.  Later in life Sandra obtained her Real Estate license and helped other families find homes in the Colorado Front Range area.

However, Sandra’s first passion was always taking care of her family and friends.  A devoted mother, grandmother, and reliable friend, Sandra’s actions were always directed toward making those around her feel loved, happy, and safe.  Whether providing guidance to her children, helping an ailing friend, or providing advice and counsel to someone in trouble, Sandra was always there to help others in need.

Survived by her brother Gerry Van Tassel and her two sons Jeff Pointer (and wife Barb) and Jon Pointer (and wife Carlie).  She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren; Jon, Joe, Jenny, Lindsey, Eli, Luke, and Jade.  Sandra was also recently blessed with her first great grandchild, Fern.  She will be truly missed by all.
