Sammy Joseph Vialpando was born May 20th, 1950 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Jose Demetrio Vialpando and Cordelia Sanchez.
The majority of Sam’s life was spent/lived in Lafayette, CO, where he graduated from Lafayette High School as a star athlete. He went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Colorado and spent most of his career working at Xcel Energy before retiring after 27 years.
As a young man and throughout his life, Sammy was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed golfing, and he loved playing and watching basketball. The very reason he was a die-hard Nuggets fan. He enjoyed woodworking as a side hobby and created many cherished pieces for family and friends over the years.
Most notably, Sammy was a born-again Christian living a life fully devoted to sharing the redeeming love of God to others, as he himself had received. He was a true servant to everyone he knew and was always just one phone call away. He wouldn’t hesitate to play with the grandkids, barbeque for the family, fix anything for anyone, building something out of extra wood he had laying around, praying for everyone, and cheering on family in the stands. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for those he loved.
Sam is survived by his wife, Marge, daughter Shae (Brent) Colvin, son, Sam Jr. (Amy). Grandchildren, Audrianna, Maurissa, Danielle, Aaron, Jonah and Joshua. His Great grandsons, Elijah and Bradyn. His Brother Joe Vialpando and sisters, Elizabeth Algiene, Anita Rodriguez, Beatrice Avila, and Silvia Roybal and countless nieces and nephews.
