Fred Tesone

Fred Michael Tesone was born on September 5th, 1930 in Louisville, Colorado. He passed away June 29th, 2021 in Littleton, Colorado at his home at the age of 90. 

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, James V. Tesone and Giovannina (Jenny) Tesone, siblings; Fiori Tesone, Marian DiGiacamo, Lina Pinelli, Annetta Domenico, Nello Tesone, Gloria Gammage, and his children; daughter, Edie Tesone and his son, Tom Tesone. Fred is survived by his wife, Lois Tesone and four sons; Jim Tesone, Tim Tesone, John Tesone and Ron Tesone. He leaves behind a legacy of 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Fred was a native of Colorado, where he grew up in Louisville and found and married his middle-school-sweetheart, Lois Chiolino. He graduated from Denver University in 1955 on a football scholarship. Fred and Lois later found themselves in the Littleton area where they raised 6 children before making their way to Cherry Creek, Colorado. Fred’s career at Cherry Creek High School was as a physical education teacher, athletic director and head football coach from 1962 - 1989. His record at CCHS was 272 wins, 49 losses, and 2 ties. Amongst many football playoff wins, league wins and three state championships, Fred Tesone was one to remember. As a head coach, Fred received; The University of Colorado Ed Lesar Award, 2 Outstanding Achievement Awards, Colorado High School Association Coaching Award, several Coach of the Year awards, 25 years of service, and 200 wins. He was inducted into The Colorado Coaches Hall Of Fame in 1996, The University of Denver Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, CHSAA Hall of Fame 2009, and The Order-Sons of Italy in 2012.   

Fred Tesone was not only an incredible Coach/Mentor to athletes and other coaches, but a true family-man. We are remembering Fred as a patriarch to the Tesone family, and an unbelievable friend and community member.

Fred Tesone will be celebrated on Thursday July 8th, 2021 with his Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Rosary held before for those who wish to attend. Mass will be held at Light of the World Catholic Church, 10306 W. Bowles Ave Littleton, CO 80127. The funeral mass will be live-streamed here. A reception will follow and a celebration of his life will ensue. 

Fred will be laid to rest at Louisville Cemetery in Louisville, Colorado in a private ceremony for his family.
