Albert Wilhelm Hanne of Wheatridge, Colorado, died on the 25th day of May 2020, at 89 years old. Al was born in Hildesheim Germany to Albert and Elisabeth (Engelhardt) Hanne, along with his siblings Siegfried, Therese, and Anneliese. After spending a year in the United States as an exchange student, he immigrated to the United States on November 18, 1955. He spent his first years in the US in the Detroit Michigan area working for General Motors as a Design Engineer. Eventually changing jobs to the Powers Regulator Company, he was transferred to Wheatridge, Colorado in 1969. Changing careers shortly thereafter, he entered the Real Estate industry, eventually owning his own company, Westland Realty. After several years he returned to his first love, machine design, and worked for several Denver based companies prior to his retirement.
Albert was active in multiple German/American clubs in the Denver area over the years, and you could be assured of hearing German Polkas or Band Music if you visited him at his home. He also enjoyed international travel immensely, andhis favorite trips included returning to Germany to visit family and friends (which he did on many occasions). He also loved spending time fishing, hunting, writing, working on his computer, and visiting with his grandchildren.
Albert leaves behind his three children, Norman (of Littleton, CO), Mark (and wife Laura of Broomfield, CO), and Sandy (of Richardson, TX). He is also survived by grandchildren Lisa (and her husband Brandon) Carter, Jessica, Ashleigh, and Marlena Hanne, and great-grandchildren, Penelope and Hadley Carter. In addition, he leaves behind a large extended family in Germany, including his sister Therese (Putz, Aachen Germany) and brother Siegfried (Hannover, Germany).
Due to current circumstances and Albert’s wishes, the family will not be holding a public celebration of his life. He will be laid to rest at the Broomfield Commons Cemetery.
