Ernest "Ernie" Herbert Shonrock. Born 28 November 1943 in Hayward, California, died 11 February 2018 in Erie, Colorado due to Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Survived by his wife Gloria of Erie, CO; Daughter Clarissa "Carrie" Rose-Matens (Ken) of Firestone, CO; Sons Christopher Shonrock (Aimee) of Elizabeth, CO; and Curtis Shonrock (Lisa) of Johnstown, CO. Grandchildren Stephany and Allison of Firestone, CO; Austin and Michalyn of Elizabeth; and Gavin, Brodie, and Jaden of Johnstown, CO. Sister Linda Thorson (Lyle) of Pierre, SD; Brothers Gary Shonrock (Pam) of Ft. Pierre, SD; and Stephen Kenzy of Onida, SD. and numerous neices, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceeded in death by his parents Alvin Shonrock and Thelma Kenzy, and Sister in Law Dawn Kenzy.
He grew up in South Dakota where he graduated high school. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and that same year married Gloria Day-Smith on April 22, 1966 in Denver. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Wichita, Ks, Denver, CO, Victorville CA and back to Denver. He was honorable discharged in 1978. He continued on serving our country by teaching fundamental electronics at Lowry AFB in Denver for many years. He began working for Public Service of Colorado in their heating and air conditioning unit where he later retired.
He became a Freemason in 2010, and was proud to be involved in many masonic bodies. He was instrumental in bringing in many new members to Masons, including his Son in Law Ken. He, his wife and daughter are members of the Order of the Eastern Star. His granddaughters are majority members of Jobs Daughters.
He and his family are members of Lutheran Church of Hope in Broomfield, CO.
He was a proud family man, helping his children where he could and spending as much time with his grandchildren as he could.
He will be truly missed by so many that his life touched.
