Yoshiko Hata, 90, of Boulder, CO, passed away peacefully at home on April 7th, 2026. She was born on June 19th, 1935, in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, where her love of music began at a very young age. She spent her earlier life as a pianist and opera singer, which led to her 50 year career as a highly successful private piano and voice teacher in South Boulder. She was known above all for her joy of living, unwavering self determination, charisma, and commitment to excellence. She was devoted to her family, friends, and students, and had the ability to keep going with a smile, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
She is survived by her husband Kuniaki Hata, her children Junnichi (Shelley Orlowski) Hata, Yuko (Danny Hudson) Hata, and grandchildren Akira (22) and Kazu (20) Hudson. A Celebration of Life will be held this spring in Boulder, CO.
