William Anthony Richling was born on August 29th, 1951 in Creighton Nebraska to Eva and Willard (Pete) Richling. Bill passed away on May 26th, 2022, in Broomfield, CO at the age of 70. He was the 3rd of 11 children. Bill attended his early schooling at Creighton Catholic School.
After graduating high school, Bill attended Mount Marty College graduating with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. After he graduated from college, he enlisted in the US Army. While in the army he completed anesthesia school. During his time in the military, he received multiple honors and medals.
On August 4th 1973, he married Ruth Sealey in Meckling, South Dakota. Over the years, they traveled and lived in many places across the United States where Bill continued his military career. In October of 1976, Bill and Ruth welcomed their first child, Jason. They welcomed their 2nd child, Sarah in February of 1981.
In 1991, Bill retired as a Major in the US Army and the family settled in Hinton, Iowa. While in Iowa, Bill continued to work as CRNA at Mercy Hospital. He spent time volunteering in the community and spent many hours working on his acreage.
Bill and Ruth moved to Colorado in 2009. At that time, Bill began working at Avista Adventist Hospital. During his time in Colorado, Bill enjoyed being outdoors fly fishing, walking his dogs, bird watching, hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing. He also spent his time studying history and researching his father’s journey in WWII.
Bill and Ruth had four grandchildren, Eva (14), Sophie (10), Wren (2) and Rhett (6 months). Bill was a doting father and grandfather who enjoyed spending any time he could with his children and grandchildren. He loved having his family nearby, and was always up for any adventure with them.
Survivors include his spouse, Ruth Richling of Broomfield, CO; children Jason (Dawn) Richling and Sarah (Justin) Hood of Westminster, CO; grandchildren Eva Richling, Sophie Richling, Wren Hood, and Rhett Hood; siblings Vicky Richling of Macon, MO, Sue (wife of Jerry) Richling of Pierce, NE, Ruth (Ken) Glover of Omaha NE, Joseph (Patty) Richling of Renton, WA, Michael Richling of Running Water, SD, Mary (Bill) Blair of Joplin, MO, Patricia (Tom) Gragert of Creighton, NE, Peter (Tammy) Richling of Omaha, NE, Carolyn (Jeff) McManigal of Center, NE, and Paul (Kristi) Richling of Omaha, NE, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Willard “Pete” Richling and Eva Richling Klosner; his brother Jerry Richling; his nephew Mitchell Richling; and his niece Maggie Schwartz.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He wanted his body donated to science but the circumstances prevented it. This would honor his desires in a similar way.
