William Henry Laging, 79, of Broomfield, Colorado, went to join his savior, on May 22, 2025 in the ICU at Good Samaritan Hospital after a sudden cardiac arrest and severe brain damage.
Bill was born in Wamego, Kansas on May 3, 1946 to Edgar Fred Laging and Mildred Leona (Niedfeldt) Laging. He was the third of five children. He grew up on their family farm near Alma, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration. Bill and Paulette Elaine Neely were married on June 11, 1966.
Bill’s work experience began at an early age on his family’s farm. McCall Pattern Company was where he started his procurement/purchasing forecasting career. Later working for Fuller Brush Company, Gerico Baby Products, Storage Technology, Reference Technology, Sun Micro Systems, and Oracle Corporation. Bill and Paulette retired in 2012 and began traveling more extensively throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
Throughout his life, Bill made many strong friendships and personal growth through Jaycees (where he received the Kansas Outstanding Local President Award), BPOE (Elks Lodge), Scuffed Shoes Square Dance Club, and church. Family activities were always a priority, along with camping, woodworking, gardening, and extensive reading.
Bill is survived by his wife, Paulette; his two sons in Colorado, Brian (Rose) and Darren (Michelle), and daughter Melinda (Quinn) Collins of Maryland; six grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Other survivors include three sisters and a brother; Edith (Russell) Hansen of Washington, LaVonne Shackelford of Kansas, Judy Buchman of Kansas, and Edward (Jeanne) Laging of Arkansas. Bill will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Broomfield United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. with burial at Broomfield Commons Cemetery. Visitation will be at In Memoriam Funeral Parlor from 10:30 am to noon.
