Victor Dean Schmeiser Obituary

Victor Dean Schmeiser, 75, of Broomfield, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, with family at his side. He lived with strength and courage and faced challenges with fortitude and resolve.
Vic was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He lived his early years on the Bradshaw Ranch in Peyton, and the Elk Creek Ranch in Greenland, Colorado. In 1952, the family moved to an Idaho homestead near Oasis, where he attended New Plymouth Idaho public schools. In 1960, the family moved back to Brighton Colorado. Vic graduated from Brighton Public Schools in 1966. Vic, a lifelong learner, graduated from Aims College in Greeley Colorado with an Associate in Arts and Science degree in 1976. In 1981, he graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.

In 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a Hawk Missile Crewman at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Florida during the VietNam War. He was honorably discharged February 1974.

Vic was a dedicated, loyal employee of Meadow Gold Dairies for 35 years, serving in both Sales and Distribution. He retired in 2010.

Vic is survived by Karen (Kurtenbach), his loving wife of 27 years. He is also survived by his three daughters and their families: Julie (James) Okada, Jenny (Coe) Branch, and Jackie Lawson as well as 7 grandchildren: Jack & Jordan Okada, Addison & Payton Branch, and Joey, Jayden & Jacey Lawson; and step-sons Derek and Brandon Lilja.

He is also survived by his brother Larry (Melva), sisters Phyllis Gordon, Elaine Schmeiser and Sally (Don) Krosky. Also cherishing Vic’s memory are many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Vic is predeceased by his parents Estel and Helen (Dimmitt) Schmeiser, his paternal and maternal grandparents, many uncles and aunts, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Vic enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and putzing in his garage. He was an avid sports fan, with baseball being his favorite. He collected all kinds of sports memorabilia and displayed it proudly in his garage.

Vic was a good man. He was the ultimate warrior, fiercely battling Parkinsons disease and cancer with courage, grace and determination. He will be remembered as a true trooper for all he did to overcome the challenges he faced, which was an inspiration to all around him.
