Verna Plumlee, age 72, passed away peacefully at Juniper Village in Louisville, CO on May 12th. Verna had recently come to Colorado to be near her family after spending time at Cottonwood Creek in Cheyenne, WY.
Verna was born in Casper, WY and had been living in Cheyenne since January of 1962. She attended Hobbs Elementary, McCormick Junior High, and Central High School, graduating in 1968. She attended the University of Wyoming before returning to Cheyenne. Verna worked at Fowlers department store, DePaul Hospital, and the State of Wyoming in Vital Records until her retirement.
Verna enjoyed reading, puzzle making, baking tasty breads, and creating a variety of crafts; including pinecone creations and beautiful cross stitch works. She was a member and officer of the Cheyenne Craft Club where she sold many of her wonderful works of art. Verna also liked to travel including many destinations across the 50 states, as well as Canada and a few trips to England to spend time with her mother’s family and sightseeing. She liked to shop and give gifts to her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her role as Aunt to her niece and nephew and their subsequent children. She showered them all in gifts and love!
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, C.W. and Audrey Plumlee. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Larry. Niece Karen and her husband Phillip and children; Ryne, Kyle, and Emma. Nephew Jeff and his wife Melissa and children; Christian and Meagan. Aunt Shirley and cousin Kathy of California, and cousins in Australia; Carla, Linda, and Wayne.
Anyone interested in donating in Verna’s name, please consider the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Verna left her family and friends much too soon, and we treasure the time we had to share with her. She will be greatly missed in our lives!
