Tommie Ediker Flora was born in Sherbourne, Kentucky on January 4, 1935 and died in Colorado on November 17, 2023 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
He was the last remaining of nine children born to George and Mary Hannah Flora whom he stayed very close with until their end.
Tommie joined the army, became a paratrooper, and traveled the United States. He married Mary Alice Stephenson in 1957 and had a son, Donald Flora, and a daughter, Rhonda Mohrbacher, all while attending University of Kentucky to become a civil engineer.
Tommie’s greatest loves in life were the UK Wildcats and his three grandchildren, Stephane, Paul and Tom Mohrbacher whom he moved to be closer to after Mary’s death in 2011. Tommie was as intelligent as he was kind, a voracious reader until the words no longer made sense.
Funeral services will be held at Kerr Brother’s in Lexington, Kentucky on December 2 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. He is survived by his son Rick, daughter Rhonda, son-in-law Scott. He is also survived by his three grandchildren ;Stephanie ,her husband Adam Fogelman and daughter Lilly; Paul and his son Elijah; Tommy and numerous nieces and nephews. May he rest in peace.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley;
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
