Thomas Lynn Ritzdorf, was born January 24, 1947, in St. Edward, Nebraska, and was received into the loving arms of Jesus, on November 8, 2025, in Erie, Colorado.
Tom was the son of Adolph (“Rick”) Ritzdorf and Bonnie Bell (Roan) Ritzdorf. When he was just three months old, the family moved to Colorado, where he grew up and attended school from grade school through high school in Commerce City. After graduation, Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
A devoted follower of God, Tom’s faith shaped everything he did. He lived with integrity, compassion, and a quiet strength that reflected his deep relationship with Christ. His trust in God guided him in times of joy and in times of hardship, and was a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew him.
Following his military service, Tom pursued higher education with determination and purpose, ultimately earning both his college degree and a master’s degree. He went on to teach psychology and anthropology at Sterling Junior College, where he inspired students for 14 years.
In 1989, Tom began a new chapter with Edward Jones as a financial advisor. While he had loved teaching, it was at Edward Jones that he found his true calling. He was deeply respected and cherished by colleagues and clients alike, earning affectionate titles such as the “Mayor of Louisville” and “Chief.” Tom worked there until his retirement on October 31, 2020, taking great joy not only in serving clients but also in mentoring new financial advisors.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Jean Ogden and Peggy Studer. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his stepson, Mait Parker; and his stepdaughters, Brooke Munson and Caitlyn Lieu; and his son, Marc Ritzdorf. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Ritzdorf, and his sister, Rikki McAlister. Tom leaves behind five precious step-grandchildren—Elizabeth, Andrew, Landon, Ella, and Lauren—and, of course, his faithful, constant companion, Gigi.
Tom will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, steadfast faith, and the countless lives he touched with generosity and love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, supported by the certainty that he now rests in the presence of his Savior.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the West Auditorium at Flatirons Church in Lafayette. A reception will follow. 355 W. South Boulder Rd., Lafayette, CO 80026
