Thomas James Hudgel (Tom), 65, of Lafayette, Colorado, passed away peacefully in his home on October 15th, 2025, following a long illness.
Tom was a lifelong resident of the Boulder area, running a family business with his father Jim Hudgel and brother Tim Hudgel. Hudgel’s Carpets & Blinds was a longstanding business in Boulder doing work for homes and commercial projects throughout the city. Tom took pride in giving excellent service and advice, standing behind the work, and being a true pillar of the community.
Tom loved the outdoors, and was a long time golfer. Tom planned his days so he could get a round in at Flatirons Golf Course as often as possible. He greatly enjoyed reading, traveling, and movies. But his biggest joy was spending time with his best friend, his dog Ollie. Nothing brought him more joy than talking about the times he and Ollie played. Every single picture on his phone is of his curly haired friend.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Richard (Jim) and Donna Hudgel, and his dog Ollie. He is survived by his son Nicholas Marmion (Sara Goethe); granddaughter Lorelei Marmion; brother Tim Hudgel; sister Terri Zimmerman (Steve Zimmerman); niece Sara Zimmerman and nephew Scott Zimmerman. He will be missed.
