In Loving Memory of Steven Douglas Jeffers
Steven Douglas Jeffers, 77, passed away on March 18, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, dementia, and aphasia. Steve was born on April 6, 1948, in Syracuse, New York, and was as raised in Penfield, New York.
Steve was the son of Mary and Bob Jeffers. From a young age, he showed a love of learning and a gift for connecting with people. During his high school years in Penfield, he played the saxophone in the school band and developed a lifelong passion for skiing. After graduating, Steve ventured west to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration. It was at CSU that Steve met the love of his life, Lynice “Lynn” Jeffers. He fell in love with both Lynn and the state of Colorado, and he never left.
Steve built a distinguished career as an investment banker specializing in municipal bonds, working throughout the Colorado Western Slope and across the state. His work funded vital public projects — from fire stations to schools to city golf courses — and brought him into contact with countless communities and the people who made them thrive. He took deep pride in the tangible difference his work made in the lives of others.
Steve and Lynn just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, a testament to a love story that began on a college campus in Fort Collins and endured through every chapter of life. Family was everything to Steve. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
Steve was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He was an avid skier and golfer, a lover of tennis, and a passionate traveler who explored destinations across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Southeast Asia. He had a deep appreciation for music and never lost his love of a good action movie or a suspenseful novel. Steve was also a proud car enthusiast, none more cherished than his beloved Porsche. He adored his dogs, a long line of beloved Labrador Retrievers, most recently a yellow Lab named Moose.
Above all, Steve was a social butterfly. He lit up every room he entered, thrived in the company of others, and made lasting friendships wherever he went. His humor, warmth, and genuine love for people defined him as much as anything else in his remarkable life. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; his daughters, Jennifer (husband Michael, sons Sammy and Charlie) and Jessica (husband Ryan, daughter Alexis); and his brother, Greg (wife Marion). He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Bob Jeffers.
Steve's family takes comfort in knowing that, even as his illnesses made it harder for him to express himself, his love for those around him never wavered. He found joy in nature, good food, music, and — most of all — the faces of the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Memorial services may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s name could be made to Broomfield FISH Food Bank & Family Resource Center.
