Sonja Linnea Wayman (1943 - 2025) passed away peacefully on March 13th surrounded by her family in the comfort of her Longmont, Colorado home. 

She lived a life of love. It began in the Spring of 1943 when Iris Moberg gave birth to Sonja in Hollywood CA. Her father, Sven Moberg, a Swedish immigrant and baker, was drafted into WWII shortly thereafter. Three years later, he returned, moved the family to Northern California, and together with Iris raised their daughter and son Nils. 

Growing up in San Francisco on Kirkham Street just a few blocks from Ocean Beach, Sonja became an accomplished figure skater and was invited to join the Icecapades. Instead, at her father's behest, she stayed home and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. She then went on to work as a professional model, took a job at Stanford University, befriended (but refused to be courted by) Laurence H. Dorcy, heir to the Great Northern Railway fortune, worked as a cocktail waitress at the Corral Reef Lounge in Waikiki, hung-out with Don Ho, married, became a stewardess for Western Airlines and put her husband through law school. 

But in 1969 Sonja did something that would define the rest of her life: she gave birth to Kristen Castro. Then came Matt Wayman in 1971, followed by Jon Wayman in 1978 and finally Rebecca Robins in 1980. Over the course of 20 years Sonja and family moved 8 times, living in places as far flung as Oxnard CA, Kingwood TX, Portola Valley CA, and Boulder CO. And everywhere she went, she built community and friendships that stood the test of time, all while devoting her mind, body and soul to her 4 children and later 8 grandchildren.
