Shirley M. Miller

Shirley M. Miller, age 75, of Westminster, Colorado, passed into Glory on Wednesday, Oct. 16th, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.

Shirley was born May 9th, 1944, in Oberlin, Ohio, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Phillips) Wallace.  

Shirley worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio, until she retired in the late 90’s, relocating with her husband Chris to Burkesville, Kentucky, to spend the greater portion of their retirement years in the Cumberland River Valley.  After Chris’ passing, she relocated to Colorado in 2014 to spend her remaining years with family, while attending both Life Fellowship and Highway Community Church.

In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed working with her hands.  Whether it was her roses, sweet corn, or crafting a clock from an oak tree stump, she always loved expressing her creativity through craftsmanship and hard work.  She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, farming, and living the “country-life”.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

Shirley is also survived by two children, Brad Coates and wife, Cherie, of Westminster, Colorado, and Bryan Coates and wife, Karen, of Amherst, Ohio, five grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Allison, Brandon, and Mason Coates and brothers, Lenville (Diane) Wallace of Florida, and Stanley Wallace of West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Miller, her son, Dwayne Coates, brothers Jesse, James, Paul, Charles, Freeman, David, Ed, and sisters Gracie Jenkins, Edith Vayda, and Dortha Stafford.
