Joseph Ruben Martinez (Ruben) was a native of Colorado, in the Frederick and Longmont area. He was born on May 28th, 1944, to Gabriel and Manuelita Martinez in Mead, Colorado.
After graduating high school, Ruben went on to establish a masonry business that provided continued success for over 40 years.
In 1992, he was married to his soulmate Diana on February 14th in Colorado. They spent 29 years laughing, dancing, and laughing through life together.
Those who had the opportunity to enjoy his company at a family gathering where he would make everyone laugh; this was his happy place as he truly loved surrounding himself with family. You might have enjoyed a round of golf with him, out wading the river fly fishing, singing karaoke or even sitting around the campfire laughing at his comedy skits. Other notable mentions are his love for Santa Fe, New Mexico, making his amazing green chili and his unbelievable story telling.
Ruben passed away on March 29, 2021 from ongoing health issues. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family in his home in Longmont, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Manuelita, his siblings; Pauline, John, Leo, Ida, Sam, Peter, Nick and Felix. Ruben is survived by his wife Diana, children; Laura Romero (Brian), Ruben Martinez (Mayra), Jeremy Nickerson (Desiree), and his grandchildren; Jazmine (Brian), Stacy, Caleb, Jacob, Levi, Nico and Savannah. Ruben is also survived by his siblings; Roy, Max (Cindy), and Charlette, and many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his friends and family; especially by his grandchildren, all of whom meant so much to him.
A private ceremony for the family will be held later in the Spring.
