Pittenger, Gale Alan age 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on March 4th after a life long battle with severe asthma and a recent diagnosis of leukemia.
Pete, as he was called, lived to get a smile and a laugh from anyone, typically strangers. He would light up the room when someone would ask how he was doing and he would reply “like a short dog in tall grass.” He marched by the beat of his own drum and sometimes would express that with his rendition of Freddie Feelgood and his Funky Little Five Piece Band.
His family knew him as a big hearted jokester that was always there in a time of need. He was an artful accountant who mentored, coached and counseled many. He was a generous man. He always greeted a room with a smile and left the room laughing when he’d exit (even if it was wildly inappropriate). Pete was known for his entertaining jokes which he loved to repeat, often.
His parents Dean and Beulah raised him in Wichita, KS where he developed a love for baseball, cowboys, and jokes. He played baseball thru college at Lehigh University where he graduated with an Accounting Degree. After which Pete settled in Denver, CO with his first wife Nancy and had his two boys Matthew and Bret. He would later marry Dagmar and settle in Denver and then become affectionately known as the “king or mayor of congress park.” Pete started an accounting firm which would become extremely successful enabling his legacy to live on past his departure from this earth.
He joins his wife Dagmar and his Irish wolf hounds Duggan and Delaney as well as his parents Dean and Beulah and brother Dean in heaven.
He is survived by his sons Matthew and Bret, daughter-in-law Carrie, and grandchildren Cydney, Thomas, Dean, and Maeve who will all carry Pete’s legacy forward. He also leaves behind his brother Ron, sister-in-law Judy, several nieces and nephews, Mary, Connor, Holling and many close friends that he considered family.
