Norman Ray Hickel, 87, died June 19, 2026 in Northglenn, Colorado. He was born in Trinidad, Colorado on April 22, 1939, the son of Oliver and Irene (Fry) Hickel.
Norman worked at his family gas station and then joined the Navy to marry his sweetheart Joanne Eastman. Norman was stationed at Moffett Federal Airfield and after completing his two years of service, transitioned to the Navy reserves. Norman was a long-term employee of Climax Molybdenum Mine and the Denver Water Department.
Norman enjoyed reading Clive Cussler novels, playing Cribbage, and photographing one room school houses.
Norman was predeceased by son Steven, wife Joanne, sisters Iva Jean and Doris, and his parents.
He is survived by daughters Sandra Curtis, Karen La Pierre, and Janine Leupold. He is also survived by brothers Ed Hickel and David Hickel, and sister Joyce Stiles, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
