Marie Bongiovanni Durbano was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She departed this life and she entered into eternal life on January 4, 2022, at 89 years young.
Born October 20, 1932, to Felicia and Giuseppe Dalleo. She grew up in Villa Priola, Sicily with her parents and brother Carmen until age 15 when she and her family were reunited with her father in America as they were separated by World War 2.
Meeting her husband Charles Bongiovanni in Erie PA and after a short courtship they married on August 4, 1951. Marie and Charles were married for 29 years until Charles passing in 1980. They had five children Joseph, Steven, Felicia, Antonina, and Christina.
In 1973, they made the decision to move to Colorado. Opening Bongiovanni's Italian Restaurant serving the most delicious Italian food Westminster Colorado had ever tasted. Marie loved to cook for her family, and even had an article published in the paper as Best Cooks of the West. “Lots of love is restaurateurs’ secret ingredient” was written in this news article. After being widowed for ten years, Marie had met William Durbano at bingo. They were married January of 1990 for a short 3 years until Williams passing in 1993.
Marie's family was by her greatest love. At 89 years old, she was blessed with all of her children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Although we have lost the woman who loved us the most, we find comfort in knowing she is now greeted in heaven amongst all of the family and friends she so dearly missed.
The true heart of our family, a one-of-a-kind, kind-hearted woman. Until we all see each other again.
