Loren Welter Obituary

Loren William Welter was born on November 15, 1949, to George and Bertha Welter in San Mateo, California.  His family moved from there and ended up settling in Lompoc California where Loren graduated from High School.  In 1969, Loren joined the United States Navy and attended boot camp along with military schooling where he excelled and ultimately, was assigned to nuclear submarines.  He was stationed on the USS Henry Clay – SSBN 625 out of Guam as part of the Gold Crew and spent a total of 6 years in the Navy.  After leaving the Navy, he went on to work at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories for a short period of time. He then moved to Colorado to work at the Rocky Flats Plant located in Golden for 19 years.  After leaving Rocky Flats, Loren worked for Lockheed Martin in the SBIRS division before retiring to enjoy life with his family.  Loren loved his family more than anything else and his life revolved around them!


Loren grew up in a large family environment with his three brothers: Gary Allen (deceased), Bret Wadsworth, and Wendell Willard along with one sister, Robin Lynn Santwier (deceased).


On September 6th of 1969, Loren married Sherry Ruth Moulton, and they had a beautiful daughter, Amy Elizabeth on April 2nd of 1970.  They later separated in 1984 but have remained in contact.


On August 3rd of 1995, Loren married Terri Lynn Holwager. In July 2008, they adopted an amazing son, Dylan Alexander.


Loren has 5 wonderful grandchildren: Laura Alison Perreault (Amy), Jack Pierce Branscome (Amy), Anna Rae Branscome (Amy), Majesta Alexandria Kalama-Panui-Welter (Dylan), and Spencer Jason Curbow (Dylan).  Loren was very proud of all his grandchildren and always looked for every opportunity to spend time with them.


A memorial service will be held on November 28,2025 at 2:00 pm at the Impact Rock Church in Erie, Colorado. In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Dementia Society of America.
