Lona Ann Lyle, age 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loved ones on September 1st, 2023.
Lona was born on January 1st, 1942 in Prosser, Washington. After graduating from Prosser High School, she went on to study nursing at the University of Puget Sound and completed her nursing training at Tacoma General Hospital. Lona toured Europe as a traveling nurse. Upon returning to the US, she moved to Anchorage Alaska, where she met her future husband, Bill Lyle. They were married in 1972 and their son, Garred, was born two years later.
A natural caregiver, Lona served the native community of Alaska for close to 40 years as a nurse at the Alaska Native Medical Center and maintained many of those relationships for the rest of her life. She showed the same selfless dedication in her personal life as a devoted wife and caring mother for 50 years.
Lona loved to travel and was an avid collector of native Alaskan art, figurines and other collectibles. She loved her family and friends and kept numerous photo albums, personal journals, and memorabilia.
Lona was preceded in death by her mother - Della, father - Carl, step-father - John, and siblings – Delmar and Etta Mae, step-brother, Jim, and step-son Bill. She is survived by her husband – Bill, son – Garred, brother – Lynn, grandchildren, Kaiya, Noah, and Malia, and many other family members and special friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 2PM at the Amvets Post 9 located at 1591 Creste Foris St, Wasilla, AK 99654
