Larry E. Rittenhouse

Larry Edward Rittenhouse, age 82, was born April 6, 1939 in Defiance, Ohio and passed away on September 20, 2021. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana and received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University. Larry spent his career working for IBM at several locations as an Electronic Engineer designing the electric circuitry for the early computer systems.

He is survived by his three beloved daughters, Kirsten Saucedo of Broomfield, CO, Tasha Mendez of Thornton, CO and Kelly Rittenhouse of Broomfield, CO, and their families, Darrell Saucedo, Quintin Darby, Kelsha Darby, John Mendez and Bella Mendez as well as his brother and sister in law, Gene and Sandee Rittenhouse.

Larry was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed flying light aircraft, rock climbing, snow skiing, waterskiing, canoeing, camping and hiking the many mountain trails. Being a long time member of the Flatirons Ski Club, he enjoyed their many outdoor adventures. He was also an active member of the Chapel of Miracles at Peaceful Meadow Retreat and a long time member of the CMC – Colorado Mountain Club as well as the BRC – Boulder Rifle Club.

Larry touched the world in a million different ways and will always be remembered for his kindness, his patience, his matter of fact sense of humor, his logical way of thinking, the way he encouraged others to be lifelong learners and the steadfast love and support he showed for his family and friends. 

A casual memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 at 2pm at Peaceful Meadow Retreat, 7075 Valmont Road, Boulder CO 80301. Hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. We welcome to you to share your favorite memories of Larry and leave tributes on this website.
