Johnny Jay Vigil, born 11/27/1969, is a Veteran of the United States Navy who served on the U.S.S. Reasoner during operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm. As a service tech for Navy aircraft, Jay had a knack for electronics & carried with him a profound fascination for aircraft alike. Following his military service, Jay discovered a passion for his local community & pursued a career as a Community Services Officer.
Jay was a passionate writer. He also enjoyed the art of: drawing, typography, & calligraphy. He had a sense of humor that could always put a smile on one’s face & enjoyed comedians who shared the same skill. Disney movies, cartoons, & standup comedy held a special place in Jay’s heart since childhood. Jay was often was the one everyone wanted to see at social gatherings; or at the very least, the one everyone asked about. It was easy to talk with Jay when one was in need of an open ear, or merely a shoulder to lean on. He had mastered the skill of listening to others & held a sense of purpose in being one’s confidant; a confidant one never knew they had.
Jay loved his mother Linda & father Juan dearly & held both of them in high regard. He shared the same strong love for his siblings Audie, Leatte, & Jeremiah who were his closest friends in life. It is said, the legacy of a parent lies with their children. Jay is the proud Dad of Shannon Vigil & Alexander Vigil whom are both the embodiment of Jay’s legacy. Shannon & Alex have been pillars in Jay’s life & Jay loved his kiddos far beyond imagination. They loved their Dad unconditionally & knew his heart better than anyone on the face of the Earth.
Jay is preceded in death by: his father Juan Tranquilino Vigil, & brother Audie Gordon Vigil. He is survived by: his mother Linda, two children Shannon & Alexander (wife Joelle), sister Leatte, brother Jeremiah (wife Georgia), nephews Angelo & Zachary (mother of Zach, Sue), & niece Bailey. Followed by many Aunts, Uncles, & cousins.
By Grace bought not through man’s merit, but by the pierced hands of King Jesus; through Faith in God’s unconditional love, unstained by the wiles of religion; Johnny Jay Vigil was brought to rest in the arms of the Father March 18th, 2020. May he now know a peace which transcends all understanding & the steadfast love of God forever. Amen.
