John Randall Montgomery Obituary

John Randall Montgomery was born in Everett, WA on March 27, 1949. He passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 at his home in Broomfield, CO.

John was a kind, loving man with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved life and the people that surrounded him. He always had a smile and wanted to help those in need in anyway he could.

He grew up in WA where he married and had his daughter Michelle. Shortly after, he moved to OR where his daughter Laura was born. Years later he met and married the love of his life Alexa Burnham. They were married for 27 years before he succumbed to Alzheimer’s.

Early in John’s life he earned his BS degree in Industrial Technology. During those years he worked for Boeing and was on ski patrol at Steven’s Pass. After graduation he worked for his own construction company. He then went on to become a State Patrol Officer in WA . He soon realized this was not for him and began working for Pacific Power and Light in Portland, OR and stayed there until retirement. He then moved to Benicia, CA to be with Alexa. There he worked as a Sales Manager for Trane Heating and Air Conditioning. He and Alexa moved to WA three years later. John then started a striping business and worked part time at the post office. He and Alexa also ran a food concession stand at a resort near their home for a summer before starting a new business called Lakeshore Engraving and Gifts. They worked at this business for nine years before moving to CO to be near grandchildren in 2015. They continued their engraving business in CO until John’s illness did not allow him to continue.

John had many hobbies that he pursued with passion. In his 30s, he got his Private Pilot License. He also loved water and snow skiing, GO Kart racing, sailboat racing as well as racing radio control, boats, and planes. He painted cars for his friends and was a singer/guitarist in his church and in local plays.

He is survived by his loving wife Alexa, his two daughters Michelle and Laura, step children Brian, Steve, Amy and Melissa, his sister Barbara, three grandchildren, two nephews, a niece and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jack & MaryAlice Montgomery and a brother Michael.

At John’s request, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held.
