John Brugger, 72, of Lafayette, Colorado, died unexpectedly on March 10, 2022 at his home in Erie.
John was born on July 26, 1949 in Boulder, Colorado to Louis and Edith Brugger. His roots, however, were in Lafayette, Colorado, where he remained majority of his life.
In 1969, he married Linda Cox. Though their marriage ended in 1977, they shared two wonderful children, Rebecca and Will.
John was a hard worker and was proud to say he worked as a Materials Supervisor for the Rio Grande Railroad for 25 years. In addition to his career with the railroad, he was a volunteer Fire Fighter and EMT for Metro Fire with the Brownsville, Colorado Fire Department for 25 years.
John lived a generous life and continuously gave back. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels delivering food to those in need. He was humbled to go on several mission trips where he was able to make a difference in the lives of so many.
John sat on the Board of the Lafayette Historical Society, and was even part of the Lafayette Bobcat Alumni Association
He is survived by his children; Rebecca Wineland of Frederick, and Will (Megan) Brugger of Littleton, his Grandchildren; Alexis Wineland of Greenwood Village, Kaitlin Scott, and Alyssa Brugger of Littleton, his brother, Ron Brugger of Erie, Colorado and his sister, Rita Hasenbalg of Farmington, New Mexico. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and some very, very dear friends.
John will be laid to rest at Lafayette Cemetery in a private ceremony for his family.
A public Celebration of his Life will be held at Flatirons Community Church on Monday, March 28th at 10:00 am with a reception to follow.
