Obituary

Jimmy “Art” Cordova, 75, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his mother Annie Cordova and father Fares Cordova. Jimmy is survived by his wife Linda Cordova; children Mary (Njuguna) Njuguna, Melissa Cordova, Mindy (Matt) Neihart and Michael (Mandy) Cordova; grandchildren Damian, Jimmy, Grace, Joshua, Maddox, Macy, Noah Andrew and Caroline; siblings Jackie (Theresa) Cordova, Cathy (Marcy) Gonzales, Angie Duran, Fares Jr. Cordova; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Jimmy was born in Alamosa, Colorado and was raised in San Acacio and Pueblo, Colorado.  Jimmy received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Colorado University and received his Master’s in Information Systems from University of Phoenix.  Jimmy served in the United States Air Force from December 11, 1968 to December 7, 1972 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.  While serving, he married the love of his life, Linda, on May 24, 1971 at Assumption Church in Pueblo, Colorado.  After serving in the United States Air Force, Jimmy held several positions at Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) in Aerospace Engineering and had a long and successful career.

Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, archery and hiking.  He loved scuba diving and experienced his first dive in the Great Barrier Reef.  Jimmy loved being physically active in weight lifting and he loved running.  He was proud to have completed seven half marathons.  He loved to travel and in his lifetime he visited: Spain, Japan, Guam, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, China, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Vatican City and Aruba.  Some of his favorite spots he visited often included Pagosa Springs, Santa Fe, Taos, Hawaii, Estes Park, 11-mile reservoir and Grand Lake.  From a young age he loved muscle cars and had a passion for dragster racing, as an adult he never missed the Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.  His pride and joy was his 2021 Corvette Stingray in his favorite color red. His musical interests included Elivs Presely and ZZ Top.  Above all, Jimmy loved spending time with his family.  His smile and playful nature will be missed.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9th. A Rosary will be held at St. Marks Catholic Church at 9:15 a.m. 9905 Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:45 a.m. and a reception will follow. There will be an escorted procession to Fort Logan National Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. committal for those able to join. 

He will be laid at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a committal service with Military Honors rendered by the United States Air Force.
