Jay "Scott" Guffy of Thornton, age 76, passed away in Westminster, CO on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, after a very sudden decline in his health.
Born in Boulder, Colorado, son of David E. and Phyllis P. (Finley) Guffy where he attended Fairview High School. Scott continued to attend Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where he obtained his Business Degree. Scott joined the Army right out of college and served 3 years in the 7th Engineer Brigade. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal and many more.
Scott worked as an accountant alongside his late wife, Sandy (Heyer) Guffy for over 40 years. They opened their own business, Guffy & Guffy, Inc., where they were always taking care of those who walked through the doors. His clients were more than clients to him, they were his friends and family.
He loved the outdoors; hunting, camping, horseback riding, and shooting. Scott hunted for many years, mostly elk, but hunted deer and pheasants.
Scott is survived by his children, Tami, David, and Marie; sister Phyllis Vielehr, and his grandchildren, Parker, McKenna, Hanna, Ben, Sam and Jack .
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 pm – 5 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the VFW Post 7945, 10217 Quivas St, Thornton, CO 80260. Relatives and friends are welcome.
