James D'Ambrosia Obituary

Announcing the death of James (Jim) D’Ambrosia, born in Denver, Colorado, to James and Frances (Engler) D’Ambrosia.

Jim, his parents, and his sister Bernice lived in the Denver area throughout his childhood. He attended Colorado State University, where he met his wife Kiki. They married in 1965, shortly after Jim graduated from CSU and was commissioned in the US Army. During his 27-year military career, Jim and Kiki raised their five children while living in Georgia, New Jersey, California, Missouri, and Arkansas, as well as Germany and South Korea. Kiki and the kids also lived in Colorado during Jim’s two tours of duty in Vietnam.

After retiring from the Army in 1992, Jim embarked on a new career in property appraisal with World Savings and Loan. He and Kiki eventually landed in San Antonio, TX, where they lived for more than 20 years before moving back to Colorado to be closer to family in 2022.

Jim was known for his love of his family, his steadfast nature, his dedication to learning technology, and his dry sense of humor. He was passionate about his hobbies, particularly fishing and woodworking.

Jim is predeceased by his parents and his son James Anthony D’Ambrosia. He is survived by his wife Kiki (Kathryn Smellow) D’Ambrosia; his sister Bernice (D’Ambrosia) Bueche; his children Barbara D’Ambrosia, Rob (Liz) D’Ambrosia, Tricia (Mark) Schneider, and Betsy (Todd) Houck; his daughter-in-law Mandy D’Ambrosia; his grandchildren Eleanor, Tom, Kelly, Andrew, Maddie, Leah, and Sam; and his stepgrandchildren Virginia and Bennett.
