It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Heather Warren on December 15, 2024, at the age of 49. Heather was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Heather was born on October 29, 1975, to Annelene and Robert Ray Warren in Laramie, Wyoming. She was the fourth child to Annelene and the first and only child to her father, Ray Warren. She brought so much joy to her family especially to her aunt, May Warren, who never had children of her own. Heather was an especially sweet and cheerful little girl who grew into a beautiful and intelligent young lady.
Heather was very close to her mom, who inspired her to develop a passion for reading, a perfection of the English language (grammar and spelling), an unwavering belief in the Women’s Lib Movement, a love for the outdoors and a passion to protect the environment and everything that resides within. Heather attended the University of Wyoming for her undergraduate degree, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities & Fine Arts and Psychology (1994-1999). She then went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the UW College of Law graduating in May of 2001.
Heather continued her pursuit of education, moving to Denver, Colorado to be near her sister, Lisa, where she attended University of Denver- Sturm College of Law, and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Natural Resources and Environmental Law and Policy (2002-2004). She began her career working as an associate attorney for Buchanan & Sperling, P.C. from November of 2004 through October 2008.
She was then hired by the Attorney General’s Office, employed as an Assistant Attorney General in the State and Trust Lands unit. There she specialized in Land Division and Resources and Water Law. In 2019, after eleven years with the AG’s Office, she took a break from her career to help her mom who lived alone in Laramie and was in declining health. Since that time, Heather continued her career at numerous law firms and a Colorado Land, Title and Trust company.
On October 2, 2010, Heather and Travis Whitney welcomed their son Hunter Robert Whitney into the world. Heather was thrilled to be a mom to Hunter, she was extremely proud of him and was very dedicated to being the best mom possible. She loved her son with every fiber of her being, Hunter meant everything to her, and he was her world.
Heather will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, passion for protecting the environment and wild animals, love for others and her amazing loyalty to those people and causes she loved.
Heather is survived by her son, 14 year old, Hunter Robert Whitney of Thornton, Colorado; her siblings, Lisa Herbst (CO), Christina Schroder (AZ) and Jospeh Herbst (CA); her Aunt Elisabeth Robinson (WY), Uncle Reinhart (Berlin, Germany); six cousins, Eva Trees, Jeff, Chris and Mark Robinson, Christian and Elga Jessen, six nieces (Amanda DeBona, Meryssa, MyKayla and Emily Herbst; Ashley Bates and Brittany Schroder; and two nephews, Michael Herbst and Gavyn Bienzle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Annelene and Robert Ray Warren; her sweet aunt, May Warren; Aunt Irmgard Jessen and Uncle Phil Robinson.
A memorial service and celebration of life is being planned for June of 2025 in Colorado.
