Gregory Wayne Weatherly was born November 29, 1948, and passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023. He was born in Houston, Texas to Robert and Evelyn (Berkovsky) Weatherly. Greg was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia (Root) Weatherly in 2008.
He was the oldest of eight children, Christopher, Mark, Mary, Matthew, Joseph, John and Lisa, and cherished his friendships with his brothers and sisters. Greg was an avid fisherman and cook. He took great pride in his garden, especially his varieties of hot peppers. He was also a lover of nature. He enjoyed feeding the local birds, squirrels, and ducks, and caring for his beloved huskies.
Greg is survived by his son Bryan (Lauren) Weatherly, his daughter Julie (Rob) Mestas and grandson Vincent Wayne Mestas. Greg’s family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Sunrise of Westminster, Easter Seals of Colorado Neurological Rehabilitation Adult Day Program, and University of Colorado Speech-Language Pathology for their loving care over the years as Greg recovered from a stroke. Greg’s family would also like to express gratitude to Greg’s siblings and their families for their love and support over the years.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Houston, Texas. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park where he can enjoy the mountains forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Easter Seals of Colorado, 393 S. Harlan St. Suite 250 Lakewood, CO 80226.
