Gloria Gold Casson

On May 6th, 2023, Gloria Gold Casson passed away peacefully looking at the beautiful view of the Flatirons from her home in Boulder, CO. Gloria joined her husband of 49 years, Laurence E Casson, who passed away in 2017. Gloria was a bright light to anyone that she spoke to. Her infectious smile and love of laughter were a gift to those around her. In recent years, she travelled extensively visiting friends and family in Tennessee, Florida, California, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. She also enjoyed European river cruises and was recently able to attend a Hallmark movie convention in Pasadena, California where she got to meet some of her favorite Hallmark actors. A native of Rocky Mount, NC, Gloria worked in Washington, DC and raised her family in Mclean, VA. During her long career on Capitol Hill, she performed many valuable services for the constituents of North Carolina congressional districts, made friends with congresspeople, cabinet secretaries, their respective staffs, Capitol police and many others including her eventual husband. After ensuring her children were mostly grown-up, she and Larry retired to Cape Cod, MA where they spent many years enjoying life with friends, telling stories, walking on the beach, and hinting how much they wanted grandchildren. When grandchildren arrived, Gloria and Larry relocated to Estes Park, Colorado to spoil the grandkids and enjoy spending time with their sons and their families. Gloria is fondly remembered by countless family, friends and colleagues around the US including her dear friends from Rocky Mount, North Carolina that have stayed close since grade school. Gloria is survived by her children and daughters-in-law, Anthony Casson and Lauren Mackey of Boulder, CO, Jonathan Casson and Shannon Carlin Casson of Grand Junction, CO; her grandchildren Elliot Mackey-Casson (13) and Wylie Mackey-Casson (11) of Boulder, CO, as well as her brother, Robert Gold and nephew, Ben Gold of Nashville, TN. Gloria’s final wishes were to have her ashes spread in Orleans Town Cove on Cape Cod to be next to her beloved Larry in spirit for eternity. A celebration of her life is planned on Cape Cod for Spring of 2024.
