Jerry McCool, 80, of Boulder, Colorado, passed peacefully in bed on July 6, 2021.
He is survived by his loyal son Brock and wife Diane, and treasured grandsons Evan and Clayton. He also leaves behind his three loving sisters, Elaina Newman, Mary Koch and Beverly Melander.
Jerry was born on April 7, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to Lilly Ament and George McCool. He grew up the big brother to his 3 younger sisters, enjoying fly fishing and wrestling. Gifted with ambition and intellect, he graduated high school early and left home to attend University of Nebraska where he earned his dental degree. His cherished dental degree was secondary only to meeting and falling in love with fellow student, Jacqueline Joann Gatto. The two would marry on Halloween 1964 and move to San Antonio, Texas where he served in the US Air Force. Jackie and Jerry moved to Boulder in 1966 to set up practice earning the respect and gratitude of many. His loyal assistant, Rita Crawford, became a lifelong friend. The three practiced together until Jerry retired in his early 60's. In that time, they created a thriving dental practice, raised their son Brock and made many treasured friends.
Jerry's third love, although some might say it was his first (wink), was golf and the tireless instruction of anyone who asked...or didn't. He lovingly earned the nickname "The Swing Doctor" to all who knew him. People may not know that Jerry was unparalleled as a grandfather. He'd set the clubs aside to be with his grandsons never missing an event or opportunity to show his love and support.
Whether you knew him as your dentist, golf guru or source of all things medical, family and friends will miss his dry sense of humor, rolling commentary, ever ready advice and his easy going smile.
Jerry will be laid to rest in Green Mountain Cemetery, next to his beloved wife, Jackie in a private ceremony for his family.
