Frances (Fran) Jewel Armstrong spent her growing up years in Muleshoe, Texas, the youngest of two sisters (Hazel and Dora) and one brother (Riehl) all of whom have preceded her in death. She was born on January 24, 1926, married Murl Curtis Armstrong on June 7, 1948 and they settled in Denver where Barbara Ann Armstrong, Edward Alan Armstrong and Marian Lynn Armstrong were born. In October of 1963 the family moved to Arvada. Fran worked happily in the banking business at Lakeside National Bank for approximately 30 years. The family joined Arvada United Methodist Church in 1965 where Barbara and Fran continue to be long-time members. Murl passed away in December of 1973 and Fran spent the rest of her years in the same home in Arvada until she moved out of her home and into independent living in 2015. She lived a full and family-centered life until she passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, three days before her 94th birthday from complications of compaction spinal and pelvic fractures. She is survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A private graveside service will occur on February 8 at the Arvada Cemetery where she will be buried next to Murl and a formal memorial service will take place at the Arvada United Methodist Church later in February or early March. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arvada United Methodist Church in memory of Fran Armstrong.
