Fran was born in Long Island City, NY to Edward and Gertrude O’Brien. She graduated high school from St. Michael’s Academy and Grace Institute Business School in Manhattan, New York City. Fran married Francis (Frank) Smith June 26, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Church, Long Island City, NY.
