Ellen Kym Winslow, 56, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026.  After a life filled with faith, kindness, hope and love, Ellen entered the presence of Jesus surrounded by family and friends.

Ellen was born on April 27, 1970, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Kenneth and Karen Bell. She grew up with a deep love of dance and reading — passions she carried throughout her life. After graduating from Stillwater High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and master’s degree from the University of Illinois.  Ellen began her professional career as a parent / infant educator – the first of many roles where she helped children that needed a little extra support.  She was always a strong advocate and voice for the underdog.

In 1998, Ellen married the love of her life, Pete Winslow, and together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and open doors. They raised two children — Blake and Bryce. Ellen was known as a “Momma Bear” for her kids and their many friends.  She also served as a foster mom to children and dogs.  Ellen was known for her intelligence, her beautiful smile that lit up every room, and her ability to make every person feel seen and valued.

Ellen was active in building and sustaining friendships - often over lunch at Panera.  She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking and supporting her children in all their activities - serving as a volunteer in several capacities.  She also enjoyed taking trips to visit family, national parks and historic locations.  She was an active member of her church community, especially volunteering in the nursery.  

Ellen is survived by her husband of 27 years, Pete; her children Blake (Jeff) and Bryce; her sister Lorna; her sister Tami (Michelle); and her brother Craig (Lesley). She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:30pm at Harbor Church in Westminster, Colorado, with a family greeting hour starting at 5:30 and continuing after the memorial service. All who knew and loved her are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to AFTD – the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration in Ellen’s honor.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.  Her family thanks God for the gift of Ellen’s life, for the laughter she shared, the faith she demonstrated, and the rhythm of love she brought into their lives.
