Dwight Lee Gardner, (Dee) 73, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Thornton, Colorado.
Born on October 6, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dwight lived a life marked by service, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family.
Dwight graduated from George Washington High School in Denver in 1970. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy. From 1972 to 1975, he served as an engine mechanic aboard naval vessels and achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. For his honorable service during this time, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service, Dwight returned home and began working as a civil servant for ARPC. He later continued his career working alongside his father in the family-owned print shop. This early experience instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship before finding his long-term professional home with the United States Postal Service. As a dedicated letter carrier for 27 years, Dwight became a familiar and trusted presence in the community he served.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dwight was known for his vibrant personality and steadfast values. He possessed a sharp sense of humor that could light up any room and was deeply respected for his integrity, honesty, and loyalty. His guiding principle was always “family first,” and he lived that value every day.
Dwight’s life was defined not only by what he did but by how he chose to live. He transformed hardship into strength and changed the course of his family’s story through
resilience and determination. By choosing a healthier path forward, he built something better for future generations—creating a new standard rooted in love, responsibility, and
perseverance. He found joy in simple pleasures: casting a line while fishing, competing on the fast pitch softball field, knocking down pins at the bowling alley, crafting with wood in his workshop, or tending to his yard with care. Spending time with his grandkids meant everything to him and used to say it made growing old worth it. These hobbies were more than pastimes—they were expressions of who he was: hardworking, focused, and full of life.
Dwight is lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra Gardner; daughters Cindy Wales (Jesse) and Jenny Callaway (Jake); son Brian Gardner; and grandchildren Jayden, Jackson, Landon, Jacob Jr., and Allie. His legacy also honors the memory of his parents Mary and Warren Gardner.
Dwight Lee Gardner (Dee) leaves behind a legacy of strength through adversity and love through action—a legacy that will continue to guide those who knew him for generations to come. May his memory bring comfort to all whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM at The Establishment at Bradburn Village 11885 Bradburn Blvd.
