A beautiful life lived to its fullest
We say goodbye to our Mum, (Mother-in-law), Granny, Sister (-in-law), Aunt, Friend. Her final advice to us, “It’s a beautiful world, enjoy it”; A little less so without her in it. We are grateful that she touched so many lives and was visited and called by so many in her final days. It surely kept her going to know how loved she was.
On May 11, 2022, Dorothy ended her struggle with ALS on her terms... peacefully with her daughters by her side.
Hold her in your hearts and prayers and wish her a peaceful journey.
Dorothy E.Young was born on March 18, 1940, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; daughter of Frank and Ida Young. After graduation she moved to San Jose CA, where she met and married Henry (Hank) Espinosa. In March of 1962 Christine and Connie were born and 3 years later they moved to Boulder, Colorado, where Dorothy started her career. She was proud of her career as an Executive Assistant beginning with Armstead Masonry and ultimately retiring from Air Methods.
Dorothy loved to travel any chance she had. She visited many countries over the years but cruises became her latest favorite. She traveled home to Canada yearly to visit family and friends, taking advantage of the berry picking opportunities, at Victoria Beach on Lake Winnipeg, so that she could fulfill her other passion of canning jam.
She was an accomplished baker and had her signature dishes. A family birthday was never complete without one of her delicious homemade cakes. Everyone had their special request filled on their special day. For those who worked with her, her homemade treats were looked forward to on a regular basis. Dorothy also gifted many with her love of crocheting making endless potholders, dish clothes, hot pads and bags.
She never wanted to miss out on anything that might have had a hint of fun. She could be found at any gathering, helping or just enjoying herself. Many said that Dorothy improved any space she entered. Any time anyone needed help she was the first to be there and the last to leave.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Young; father, Frank Young; and sister, Frances Bartlett (George [Bill]).
She is survived by her twin daughters Christine (Eric) & Connie (Matt); 4 Grandsons, Jory, Coby, Colton & Jacob;
2 brothers, David Young (Susan) & Ronald Young (Elsie); many nieces and nephews; and good friends.
Dorothy was loved by all and will be remembered for her giving, caring and fun spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the ALS Association (ALS Association - Rocky Mountain Chapter)
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 23, 2022. Please continue to check back for further details on the service.
