Donald LeRoy Lewis

Donald LeRoy Lewis was born on August 7, 1947, and passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2021. By his side were Kathy, his wife of nearly 51 years, his son, Michael (Karen) and his daughter, April (Vincent).

He is survived by his loving wife, his two amazing children and their spouses: Michael and his wife Karen; April and her husband Vincent; his beloved grandchildren Teo and Tassiana; and his Godson, Tony.

Don was born on August 7, 1947, in Burbank California. He met Kathy at Valley College in 1966 and were married on December 5, 1970, at Panorama Presbyterian Church in Panorama City, California. Don was a teacher for children from single parent homes for many years and a youth director at Kirk O’ the Valley Presbyterian Church in Reseda, California. He had such a love for these young people and left such a positive impression on their lives.

Even though blind for most of his adult life, he enjoyed life to the fullest. Spending time with his family and friends was his greatest joy! 

After retiring in 2002, he became an avid reader and spent many hours listening to his talking books.

Don had a faith that was so strong. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church. He spent many hours in prayer and although not ready to leave his wonderful family, he was ready to join his mother, Dorothy; his father, Robert, and his sister, Bobbie with the Lord in heaven!

Services will be held at Rocky Mountain Christian Church (Frederick campus) on Saturday November 6, 2021, at 1:00 pm. The service will also be livestreamed for those who are unable to make it in person.

Please wear casual attire and the family is asking for people to wear blue (Don’s favorite color). The family is requesting masks for the service.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to “Rocky Mountain Christian Church Niwot Colorado – Outreach” or to the “Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.”
