Diana Jane Rosseau died peacefully at the age of 86 on June 29, 2024, six weeks after losing her lifelong love and husband, William “Bill” Rosseau.
She is survived by her brother Antone “Sandy” Wenos (Dianne Wenos); daughters Gail Ciepiela (Rory Ciepiela), and Brenda Kienlen (Paul Kienlen); granddaughters Nichole (Ciepiela) Lyons (Preston Lyons), and Lindsy Ciepiela; 3 great grandchildren; Taylor, Colten, and Hunter (children of Nichole and Preston Lyons); and many nieces and nephews.
Diana was born November 23, 1937 in Madison, WI to parents Antone and Theresa Wenos. The family moved to Iron River, MI where her parents owned and operated the Wenos Lumber Company. After graduating from Iron River High School, Diana worked at the local dress shop, where she met her dear friend Kat Rosseau, which led to her meeting her future husband, Bill Rosseau.
Diana married Bill on June 21, 1958. Soon after their wedding they moved from their families and childhood homes to Dayton, Ohio, where Diana began her life as a dedicated and adoring wife and mother. In 1963 they moved to Arvada, CO. Diana was always up for any adventure and together Diana, Bill, and their children explored the west - canoeing, backpacking, and driving their Willy’s Jeep into the remote back country of the Rocky Mountains. Each summer the family would take the VW bug on the road and head back to Iron River to spend time with their parents and all the siblings, nieces, and nephews. Their sense of adventure continued into retirement, during which they enjoyed a summer-long road trip to, and throughout Alaska, living in their small camper.
Diana’s greatest pleasure came from creating a loving home for her family. She loved to cook and bake, making sure no one went to bed without homemade desserts. By tending to her gardens, she created a colorful and welcoming atmosphere where rhubarb treats were always a delight. She was a professional seamstress and sewed all her own and her daughters’ clothes. She knitted sweaters and socks, crocheted afghan throws to keep everyone cozy, and created countless Christmas ornaments that her family will cherish for generations. She continued these beloved traditions for her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Diana had a long career with Avon Products, first as an Avon Representative then as a District Sales Manager. As a representative of the company with her own territory, Diana’s visits to homes were looked forward to by customers and their children. She always brought surprises and a cheerful smile. She was very successful in building her customer base and increasing sales which eventually lead her to accepting a position as a District Sales Manager. She motivated the representatives in her district with confidence, wit, and genuine care. Throughout her career with Avon she made many friends, attended conferences throughout the states, and earned many awards.
Diana, together with her husband Bill, will always be remembered as a loving and supportive force for their family. They spent their retired years enjoying time with their daughters and sons in law, and cheering on their grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their activities and adventures.
Diana was a caring, witty, intelligent woman, always quick with a sassy comment and a smile. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.
