Debra Pietrafeso Obituary

Debi Pietrafeso (née Clary) passed away peacefully on the morning of February 27, 2023, with her daughter by her side at their home in Denver, Colorado. She was 68.

Debi was born on September 4, 1954, to Harrison and Shirley Clary (née Adams) in Lake Charles, Louisiana, while Harrison was serving on an Air Force Base. When Debi was just two weeks old, she and her parents left Louisiana to move around Colorado and the surrounding states until finally settling down in Grand Junction when Debi was 7 years old.
Debi graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1972, along with a very close group of classmates and her best friend Sheri Betzer. She remained close to this group of friends her entire life, and they would have nearly yearly gatherings.
In 1974, Debi moved to Denver, Colorado, to attend Barber College. While doing hair and beard trims after completing college in 1976, she met the love of her life, Andrew “Andy” Pietrafeso. On Christmas Eve 1977, Andy proposed to Debi; they were married the following year in August.
In 1978, Debi opened her very first barber shop, “Mane Event,” which would move to its own building in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, in 1981. Debi continued to cut hair until her cancer diagnosis in 2022. Many of her clients became lifelong friends.
In 1983, Andy and Debi opened Cappuccinos on S. Wadsworth Blvd. and Yale Ave., pouring their hearts and souls into the restaurant. Debi was the most welcoming hostess, and Andy was in the kitchen with his family working alongside him and employees that would become lifelong friends.
Debi and Andy loved to spend time hosting parties for their friends at their restaurant and their home on Lookout Mountain, but most of all, they loved spending time with their children. Any given summer the whole Pietrafeso family could be found on a two-week-long beach vacation where Andy would be playing in the pool or the sand, and Debi would be in a beach chair with a good book.
Debi is survived by her son Trevor (Conny) Pietrafeso, daughter Marissa (William) Page, and grandchildren Andrew, Forest, Javier, Victoria, and William, along with her mother Shirley Clary, brother Todd (Katie) Clary, and loving niece and nephew Maggie and Adam (Courtney). Debi was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Andrew Pietrafeso (1949-2020), her father Harrison Clary (1930-2021), and her brother Forest Clary (1957-1982).
A combined celebration for Debi and Andy will be held on April 1, 2023, at The Page Household located at 2059 S. Humboldt Street Denver, Colorado 80210. This open-house style gathering begins at 11 am and will remain open throughout the day, with food and drinks provided. The family requests that attendees do not wear black but instead wear any of the following: tropical style clothing, Debi's favorite color - Purple, or Denver Broncos attire. If you would like to send flowers to the family, please direct deliveries to the same address.
"If ever there is a tomorrow when we are not together, there is something you must remember, 'You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.'"
