David Gomez

David Felix Gomez passed away peacefully at his home in Lakewood, CO on October 17, 2020 after a battle with kidney disease. He was 92 years old.

David is survived by his wife of 70 years, Velma Mae Gomez.  They were married in Denver, CO on March 11, 1950. He is also lovingly remembered by his five children: Angelo (Patty) of Corvallis, OR; Carolyn (Jeff) of Whitefish, MT; Michael (Rosa) of Englewood, CO; Belinda (Philip) of Arvada, CO; and John (Maria) of Lakewood, CO; and by his 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

David was born in Denver, CO on March 31, 1928, to Dionicio and Paulita Gomez. He was the fourth of eight children, and was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. Like many other members of his Greatest Generation, David enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 to serve his country during a perilous time in history. His service began before the end of WWII and concluded prior to the Korean War. He was stationed primarily in Korea where he served as a Military Policeman.

David loved working with his hands, from fixing car engines to working on home renovation projects. However, his true passion was woodworking and he created some masterful, intricate works of art. He worked for many years in the specialty building products industry, and also served several terms on the North Pecos Water & Sanitation District Board of Directors.

He will always be in our hearts. His humor will be missed but never forgotten, and as he would always say when asked how he was, “I'm pretty and I'm good.”

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
