Colleen Loberg “Col” passed away peacefully on 6/22/24. Survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Daryll Loberg “Bump.” When asked what their secret was to such a lengthy marriage, her answer would always be "A deal's a deal."
Also affectionately referred to as "Beaky,” Colleen is now watching over her daughters: Jennifer (Tom) and Julie (Dave). Her Granddaughters: Lindsay and Chelsea Rose. Her Grandson Jake. Chelsea's Father Kevin. Her Sisters: Kathleen “Kak” (Steve - RIP), Sheila (Jim “Big Jim”), and Mary (Scott). As well as her Nieces and Nephews: Scott, Lisa, Shannon, Michael and Daniel. She was proceeded by her Mother and Father, Patricia and Thomas Moriarty.
She was born and raised in Minnesota. She loved her land of 10,000 lakes. Always alongside Daryll, she explored everything that Minnesota had to offer. They enjoyed Fishing, Camping, Lake Como, The State Fair, Duluth....heck, they went everywhere with their adventurous spirits. She loved “running like a deer” through shopping malls with her girls, always on a mission to find the snazziest outfits that the "elves made” just for them.
When she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, the family came together and arranged their big adventure to Colorado where they could be with all of her "dings," as she called us. She said many times that she felt safe and sound knowing we were all together, ready to face the unknowns of this horrible disease.
In her younger years she was voted "Miss Congeniality." We have pictures of her in a local parade with her crown and silk sash, sitting on the back seat of a fancy convertible waving to the crowds. Priceless. She carried that title gracefully throughout her life.
Everyone who met her became captivated by her wit and charm. She was authentic. She had an aura that emitted kindness along with an unforgettable smile. She had a close-knit group of friends, with whom she loved to "laugh and play." This is where she really shined! Anyone who became a part of that group had her loyalty for life. They will all miss her dearly.
She was a strong, determined woman who overcame every obstacle in her life. She was the shining example of fortitude, and raised her girls to "just keep their blades down," – to never give up, never give in. She beat alcoholism, breast cancer, and when Lewy Body Dementia reared its ugly head...she buckled down and gave it her all.
She left this world with Grace, Dignity, and her Faith intact.
She is now dancing with the Angels.
