Carl M. Whipple

Carl Milo Whipple was born September 2, 1927 in rural Wapello County in Iowa to Wayne Buchanan Whipple and Adeline ‘Addie’ (Rill) Whipple as their third child in a family of seven. He attended a one room school and graduated from Agency High School in Agency, Iowa

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, a Master of Science Degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a Ph D. degree from  TheOhio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  Carl was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1945- 1946.

Carl married Norma Lee Eisel in Red Oak, Iowa in 1952, and had three sons.  He spent forty years in education, all in Iowa.  This included eleven years as a vocational agriculture teacher, twenty-eight years as a school superintendent and one year with Iowa State Department of Education.

Carl and Norma moved to Colorado in 1994 after they retired.  He is survived by his wife Norma, after 68 years of marriage, son Mark of Fresno, California, son Gary of San Diego, California and son David of Satsuma, Florida.  Also surviving Carl is a younger brother, Harold, grandchildren Karen (Dustin)Schutt, Michael Whipple, Brett Whipple, great grandson Maddox Dillon, and many nieces and nephews.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, sister Miriam and Ruth, and brothers Richard, Paul and Charles.

Carl's liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope in Broomfield, Colorado. The Liturgy is invite-only due to ongoing COVID precautions and protocols. The liturgy will be web-casted live and archived for future viewing at www.lchope.org/watch
