Caleb Nathanael Johnson died May 30, 2021, at the Park Forest Care Center in Westminster, Colorado, after suffering a stroke early in April. Caleb, 70, was born in Greeley, Colorado, to Walter and Margaret Johnson on September 30, 1950.
He is survived by his four sisters and three brothers: Mary Lundblom (Norman, d. 2020), Scottsdale AZ, Paul Johnson, Tucson AZ, James Johnson (Ruth) LaPorte CO, Mark Johnson (Martha) Ponte Verde Beach FL, Lois Barliant (Ronald) Chicago IL, Ruth Boulee (Edmond, d. 2018) Wheat Ridge CO, and Anna Johnson, Chicago IL, 11 nieces and nephews, numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, many cousins in both his father’s and mother’s families, in addition to lifelong friends important to Caleb’s life, particularly Gary Billings and Alan Steele.
Caleb is a graduate of Eaton High School where he played baseball and served as Student Body President his senior year. After attending Colorado State University for two years, he found his true interest in carpentry and framing houses as an independent contractor and carpenter in the Eaton and Greeley area as long as he was physically able.
Caleb will be remembered for his fascination with design and perfecting the daily tasks like grilling a steak or peeling an orange. His fascination with geometry resulted in carefully calibrated structures of simple beauty. He will also be remembered as an engaging storyteller and attentive listener.
His family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, the kind people at Park Forest Care Center, and exceptional team from Elevation Hospice for help caring for their brother.
Caleb will be buried after a brief graveside service at the Eaton Cemetery, 223 First Street, Eaton CO.
