Bryce Wayne Tolbert Obituary

Bryce Wayne Tolbert was born on March 13, 1988 to his parents Gina and Jerry Tolbert in Burbank, California, and happily welcomed by his big brother Corey, AKA “Toady.” The Tolberts relocated to Denver, Colorado where the family welcomed Corey and Bryce’s little sister LaRissa into the world.

The boys spent their time riding bikes, going fishing with dad, going to car shows, helping dad fix cars while they held the flashlight, watching (and reenacting) WWF, and racing dirt bikes. Aside from boyish activities, Bryce wasn’t above watching girly movies and obsessing over Lizzie McGuire with his sister, and doing choreographed dance routines to High School Musical in the living room.

Coming from a long line of musicians in the family, it was no surprise when Bryce began drumming around age nine. He would love to tell you that his main inspiration was Travis Barker from Blink-182, but in reality, it was the 90s boy band Hanson that inspired Bryce to pick up drum sticks and follow in his parents’ (and grandparents’) musical footsteps. Music became a second language for Bryce, and a gift that he carried with him for the rest of his life.

Bryce loved experimenting with different looks, styles, and hobbies – flawlessly pulling off whatever it was he chose to do. Being excellent at everything he pursued, it was no surprise that he was also a great student. Bryce attended multiple schools, as did all the Tolbert kids, and when someone would ask which school he went to, he would answer, “All of them.” His childhood passions included drumming, basketball, skateboarding, and he was marvelous at all of them. His artistic abilities came through as early as six years old when he would recreate Bob Ross paintings flawlessly. He was annoyingly good at - well, everything.

In his teens, Bryce continued to play music and meet other musicians his age. He was a drummer and singer in bands such as Lucky 13, Fear From Falling, Annabelle Lee, and a myriad of other projects, all of which had success in the Denver music scene. During this time, he would make lifelong friends, have long term relationships with his girlfriends Cara and Kelly (separately, of course), whom he stayed close friends with for the rest of his life.

At age 15, Bryce honed in on his artistic abilities and became a craftsman, going to work with his dad and learning how to do hardwood floors. In 2020, Bryce teamed up with his brother-in-law Luke to start their own company Limitless Hardwood. In 2021, Bryce moved to Nashville and started working for BKH Floors where he began working with Bob. Bryce and Bob formed a strong connection discussing their love of literature and bonding over all things artistic. To no one’s surprise, Bryce was a terrific craftsman and has helped make hundreds of homes beautiful.

Around 2009, Bryce became involved in the church and began his journey toward leadership. Always excelling at everything he did, he made sure he knew the bible front to back, and even after he left the church, he still enjoyed theological conversations, and discussing life’s “big questions.” At Red Rocks Church in Morrison, Colorado, Bryce met Samantha, and made her Mrs. Tolbert on October 5th, 2013. He fell in love with Sam’s 2-year-old son Owen, where he was more than happy to take on the role as “Dad.” Bryce and Sam welcomed their son, Elijah Ryan, in 2014, and their daughter Avery Grace in 2016. The family of five bought their first home in Thornton, Colorado, before they relocated to Tennessee in 2021. They enjoyed spending their time fishing, camping, football with Owen and Eli, and Bryce wasn’t too proud to help his daughter Avery with her cheerleading routines.

Nashville provided space for Bryce to express his love of country music, collaborate with phenomenal musicians, perform, and write some of his best work. His brother Corey followed suit and made Tennessee a home for his family, too. Bryce’s mom, Gina, and his stepdad, Dennis, would visit on a regular basis.

In 2025, Bryce’s childhood love of dirt bikes translated into a love of motorcycles. He loved sharing pictures and videos of his rides to his friends and family (except to his sister LaRissa, because he knew she wouldn’t approve). A cherished video taken by Bryce’s good friend Sunshine shows Bryce revving up his engine, cigarette in his mouth, and before taking off, he enthusiastically yells, “I love you!”

Although Bryce struggled throughout his life, that is not his legacy. The life he lived and the life he gave to all of us is his legacy. When you think of Bryce, think of the life he provided you, just by knowing him. Think of a self-taught musician. A lover of leatherworking, but also chick flicks. The guy who got a Bob Saget tattoo because he thought it was funny. The person who made you laugh so hard you cried while he simultaneously had so much depth it was inspiring. The biggest jerk you’ve ever met and yet the most sincere and loving. He was a dedicated father and husband, an amazing brother and son, a talented musician and craftsman, and the most loyal friend. Bryce gave us so much beauty, inspiration, fun, excitement, laughs, and life-changing lessons. Bryce gave us life. A beautiful one. He will be loved and missed forever.

Bryce is preceded in death by his grandfather Ron Fioravanti, his uncle Ryan Fioravanti, and his aunt Kristin Fioravanti. He is survived by his wife Samantha, his children Owen, Elijah, and Avery, his father Jerry, his mother Gina (and step-dad Dennis), his brother Corey (and sister-in-law Serena), his sister LaRissa (and brother-in-law Luke), as well as his nieces, nephews, his half brother Kacey, countless cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends who will miss him every day.

A Celebration of Life will be held for him on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center. A reception will follow services and be held in the same room.
