Bessie Castillo Obituary

Bessie was born in Stanton, TX to Frank and Consuelo Martinez, the first of seven children. While living in Mitchell NE, she married Jose G Castillo in July 1954 where they had four children. By 1965 Bessie moved to Northglenn, CO completing her family with a fifth child.

After the death of the father of her children, Bessie met and married Virgil Choate in Northglenn CO and lived happily with him until his passing in 2014.

Bessie was a kind lady who didn't know a stranger and was loved by many. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room. Shy and small in stature, with a personality and a sense of humor that shattered ceilings. She was very compassionate with a big heart and once you broke through her shell she would do whatever she could for you. Bessie’s love was as big as her strong will. She especially enjoyed dancing and appreciated listening to her favorite artist, Patsy Cline, along with Tejano and Country music.

From wrangling turkeys, picking cotton, and sorting potatoes, Bessie would eventually retire after 20+ years of service from what was ultimately known as AT&T.

Bessie is survived by her children, Joseph (Jojo) Castillo, Belinda Enneking , Daniel (Zoe) Castillo. Grandchildren, Tamara
Axent, Jacob (Sabrina) Castillo, Shadai Schwartz. Great grandchildren, Shayla (Talia), Keegan (Tess), Taiven (Ashly), Xaeley (Cormac), Cain, Jase, Larissa, Axel, Blaze and Isabella. Great-great grandchild Aster. She is also survived by her brother Frank (Elena) Martinez sisters, Bernadine Ventura, Grace (Paul) Nielsen, Patricia (Lance) Kloefkorn and so many extended family and friends.

Bessie is preceded in death by parents Consuelo and Frank Martinez, husband Jose (Joe/Guadelupe) Castillo, second husband Virgil Choate, sister Nellie Schou, sons Fabian and Vincent Castillo and her grandson Duane P. Christie.
